I've read that baby elaphe will sometimes eat other snakes, but I have never seen it first hand. When I was in junior high a friend and I hatched snakes for the first time, (eastern hognoses, and texas patchnoses). We had all the hatchlings in a 20 gallon aquarium. I checked on them only to find two of the hognoses working from opposite ends on a patchnose. Glad I didn,t find them about 20 minutes later. Where are your black rats from?
