The Transcaucasian Rat Snake (Elaphe hohenackeri) is a small snake (2 to 3 ft) that is closely related to the Leopard Rat Snake (Elaphe situla) and the Persian Rat Snake (Elaphe persica). The species contains two subspecies, the nominate form E. h. hohenackeri, and E. h. taurica. E. h. hohenackeri occurs in eastern Turkey, southern Russia, Armenia, Azerbayzhan, Georgia (not the US state), and western Iran. E. h. taurica occurs in western Turkey (Taurus Mountains, hence the name), Syria, and Lebanon.
Best regards,
Sacha
