: Steven, I hope you're successful in breeding this species. From what I can tell noone else in the U. S. has done it. It would be nice if we had a source for these little guys. I wish I had a male to keep my female company :)

:
: : E. rufodorsata is an excellent snake, especially if its cb not wc. I got one about 6mths ago. It was awsome. They are relativly small, can live easily in a 10 gal tank. They require a decent ammount of humidity, but not tooo awfully much. I have had a couple of other ones since the first, as I am trying to get them to breed. The wc can be a bit flighty, but I have only been bit once. You said the one at the local store ( i believe) was sick looking.... if this is the case, DO NOT GET IT. Often times stores don't know how to take care of them. I got my first one from a local pet store, and it was full of internal parasites, that it got from feeder fish. If you do get one from a lfs, and it is eating feeder fish, try to switch it to pinkies as soon as possible. This may be tricky, may require scenting the pinkie with feeder fish. In the long run it is much safer, and easier to feed this way.

: : All in all, they make great pets if they are gotten from a good source. I highly recommend one.

: : : : should have mentioned that im fairly certain that it wasnt a twin spotted ratsnake, as there was one long zig-sag stripe going down its back

: : :
: : : Your description sounds like rufodorsata, but other Chinese "corns", are E. bimaculata and E. dione. Here's a pic of rufodorsata.....
