: bingo, thats the one or very close to it.. any info on feeding, temperment, space requirements..
: or any general care tips you can give or if you can point me in the general would be helpful

Well, you have your work cut out. Wild caught rufos are difficult to acclimate. First, they don't usually eat rodents, and second, it's winter, and they'll probably want to hibernate. You should be careful with them tho because they may have been w/o necessities for a long time. Also, anything coming in from China is very likely to have parasites and/or disease. Do not put in with your other animals until your sure they don't have anything.

To feed try minnows or small frogs, or try scenting a pinky mouse. If there is no response, you might want to try cooling for a few weeks, month, or more.

They have a nervous temperment from what I can tell, but maybe you can tame yours down with time. I have an adult female that is brumating right now. She has been trained to eat pinks. She remains pretty flighty, but isn't too difficult to handle. They're pretty shy and like to hide.

I have a large jar of water in her terrarium. She soaks in it from time to time, but mostly keeps pretty dry. She's in with my other ratsnakes, so gets a fair amount of humidity. I like to keep it around 50%, if poss.

I'd keep them like a garter snake, with lots of cover, but not too much water. You can keep one rufo in a very small container, but I keep my adult in a ten gal. Good luck, and keep us posted on the progress.

I wish I lived near a place that sold these. Hopefully I'll get a male, or at least a companion female next year. Later, Rat.
