: Hi Terry - I told Chad they were about 15 inches now and he was surprised they had gotten that big. I've always thought that E. situla had one of the prettiest head patterns. When I look at a dione from the top of the head, I think it rivals a situla. What do you think? These diones were my first step into Asian rat snakes and I was impressed that they seem easy to care for and are very hardy and great eaters. An excellent snake for any hobbyist. Can't wait for a S. Korean dione. HeHe.
Yep, they are very nice, Ter. One thing you might notice is that the head turns kind of a grayish color when they mature, making it look different from the body color. My subadults are still active and eating. They shouldn't have any trouble reaching large enough size to breed as 2+ yr. olds.
The S. Korean babies are still active and feeding too. They seem to get more colorful each week. Both of these Dione's make great pets in their own right. They are quite active and visible, much different from other ratsnakes, don't you think? I do think they should be ssps, at least, if not diff. sps., though :)
