Stephen,
Red tailed green rats are beautiful snakes. Most are wild caught, full of parasites, mean and last about 2 months in captivity. Unfortunately very many pet stores still deceive customers when it comes to the origin of their animals. My suggestion would to be to spend only the money on such a difficult snake as this as you can afford to loose - it'll be a gamble at best. Some will tell you it will simply be a loosing proposition. There are some captive born RTG rats out there though. At least do this - ask the pet store if they will give you a complete money back gaurantee for 60 days. They know that even a sick, dying snake will probably last for 30 days, so my guess is they will refuse.

: Hello, my name is Stephen. I have been keeping snakes for a couple years now. I am looking to get a new snake, and I usually run across snakes at petstores, then look online to get them. I saw a snake, very beatiful green snake, with an orangish/red tail at a petstore today. I have been looking up info here on the site for the last hour or so. I was wondering, are they all mean??? The one at the store was very very tame. Never struck, bit, hissed, or even made any serious attempts to get away. Is this one sick? Or are some fairly tame? The store said this one is CB NOT WC. They claimed it eats fine, has never struck, and is very sweet (as much as a snake can be). Any suggestions. It is my understanding (from this site) that they get around 6ft long or so. Is this acurate? How humid do they need it?

: Thanks a bunch for any info/help/advice you can give!!
