: I got my male from Bill Gillingham of Great Valley Serpentarium, some 4 yrs ago. He is now 9ft 2" long, 6+ lbs wt and is still handle-able but jerky and tense like a racer. He gets a medium rat once a week. When young, he ate every single day! He is brilliant yellow and gloss black in the natural pattern, and is arguably the most spectacular looking animal I own. But feeding is almost scary because he hits a stunned rat so hard. I don't feed frozen/thawed anymore because the freezing seems to weaken the skin, and rats explode when he strikes & constricts, or I don't release it quick enough and a leg or tail comes off from the impact. Clean-up of his cage is messy; stunned rats hold together better. Use the longest tongs you can find for feeding when they get to be adults! He comes out and watches me on the computer at night, and seems curious about things around him, a sign of intelligence IMHO.
Man, that is great. I fed my new one again today and he actually did hit it hard, which is the first time I have experienced a truly aggresive snake attack, especially on a mouse that has been dead for 2 weeks and was just lying on the cage for a few seconds. He consumes food soo fast compared to other snakes I own, and will actually feed him every day now as you say it is cool. 9 ' 2 " !! ! ! !. That is one awesome snake, YEAH! I am looking forward hardcore, even more than my carpet or rats ! Was he a hatchling when you bought him 4 years ago?
