Bought my first pair of mandarins about 2 months ago. They are the most beautiful snakes I have ever seen. They are from 2 different blood lines. The female eats a thawed pinky once a week but the male will only take a live one. This means a trip to the pet store once a week, but for a 450.00 snake I think I can handle it, lol. I keep them on the bottom shelf of the baby rack at between 69 degrees at night and no higher than 77 during the day. They are flighty snakes that don't seem to want to be handled so I don't do much of that. The female is always on top of the aspen and eager to spring from the box when she sees me. The male spends 90 % of his time burrowed. I really enjoy keeping these little snakes so far and thought I would share my observasions after only a couple month w/ them.
