Does a black rat mother want to stay with her eggs?

Just wondering if she intends to sit with them for any length of time. I removed the eggs within hours of having been laid. Ever since, the mother hasn't been the same. Doesn't come when I call her. Won't chase a frisbee any more. Skips family functions. Never returns my calls.
