: Stomach or kidney failure? That's a grim prognosis for a rat snake that regurged once after a steady diet every 2-3 days and is squirmy when you handle and palp it. You would squirm too if you were being handled by something hundreds of times your size. I would let the snake rest, unmolested by human hands, for a few days, then re-attempt feeding on a slower paced schedule. When it is feeding again, and doesn't have a pronounced lump of undigested food in its gut, try handling it again. Every young ratsnake that I have handled has twisted to get out of my grasp. They all calm down with repeated GENTLE handling.

Thanks for your help Derek, but she is doing it WITHOUT being handled. I thought maybe it was because she is being kept in a deli cup... but she only recently (4 weeks) has been put into one. She is a VERY PRIZED animal and it would be a shame to lose her. We'll see in the morning,J
