For all of you out there who are attracted by the relatively cheap price and undeniable beauty of wc Goynosomas..I must repeat (again) STAY AWAY FROM WC ADULTS! I have been breeding these irascible gems for what will now be the F2 generation and the wc adults I initially started with were the most time consuming pains in the butt herps I've ever dealt with. I was warned but like so many of us I figured I could out-smart the less "informed". Anyhow, I was humbled from the get-go. Hugely infested w/parasites and unbelieveably fragile in regards to upper resp. infections. I started out w/2.4 wc adults - if all were healthy for 60 days at a stretch I considered it a victory! Many stressful days treating them w/ Baytril, Amacasin, etc. To make a long story short I was lucky to eventually get three good clutches of 6 eggs each..successful incubation is another battle....1-2 per clutch died full-term in the egg even afer being manually pipped at 100 days (just pipped the most recent clutch at 92 days to see if this makes a difference).
The cb babies have been a different story altogether. They are as pissy as the wc snakes but are as easy to care for as Corn Snakes. I only have 1.1 of the foundation breeders but held back all of the offspring - fantastic snakes but demand a huge amount of time. Bill
