: I know its wrong to keep a wild animal but i saved this one from getting smushed by my neihbor. He is about 18 inces just eyeballing it but could be 2-3 either way. He only eats when he wants to and i'm trying to get him big and tame so i can give him to a friend of mine. I have no use for him i'm more into corns and boids.
Once a week is fine to feed ratsnakes. Twice a week for more growth ,but if yours is wild he isn't used to eatin alot anyway. If he eats mice ,fine.Use fuzzy mice so he is not as intimidated as with a hopper jumpin around all over the place. If I really want a wild snake to eat more ( or eat at all) I may use Peromyscus mice(deer). They seem to love them more. Even rat fuzzy or pinks may help you speed him up on eatin better.
