You are looking at a posting from a very, very happy man. If you look back a few postings you will see that I had a ratsnake that wouldn't take rats. He even snuck a mouse from underneath a scented rat. Well right now he has just finished devouring a rat and I thought that I might be able to share my technique with you people incase you have a similar problem. The idea came to me today when my girlfriend and I were at the pet shop. She bought some frozen mice pinks for her horned frog. So what I did was to create a "rouse". I made an incision through the skin of a thawed rat with a scalpel (kitchen knife would do) and then used a probe to seperate the skin from the innards (a chopstick would suffice). I then took a thawed pinkie and placed it inside the rat, just underneath the skin with its head sticking out. When presented with some tongs, Cadmus smelled the rat head and then smelled the pink. He grabbed the whole deal by the pinkie head, but then realigned himself and devoured the thing head-first. I don't know how many times I will have to do this until he will take rats straight, but this is a start.
Cheers,
Dave
