Will feeding schedule affect black rat adult color?

I have a female wc as a juvie, and a male wc as an adult. The male is much darker in color and displays very little pattern. Presumably my female ate more, and more often than the male. Does anyone know if accelerated feeding affects the adult coloration of the animal? Or is this just an individual, or regional trait?
