aggresive black rat

I got my first snake 4 weeks ago it is a juvenile black rat. My problem is whenever I go anywhere near him it repeatidly bites me. Although it is not painful it does draw blood and is anoying.Will he grow out of this or should I get a pair of gloves for when he gets bigger? Is this unusual. Thanks for any advice.
