Correct me if I`m wrong, but the Royal Diadem Ratsnake (Spalerosophis (diadema)artriceps) lives in Pakistan while in the Egypt there`s another species(subspecies)- S.(diadema) cliffordi
My couple of Royals are very docile snakes and have never bit, they are just gorgeous and would make wonderful pets!

: I recently purchased a snake sold to me as an Egyptian Royal Diadem Ratsnake, my first snake purchase without doing some research (I went in to get a Taiwan Beauty but the Egyptian was just too darn cool looking). I couldn't find anything on it in my Rat Snake book, but when i purchased it I was assured it was a bold snake (one of the things I liked about it, din't do the running squirm like so many baby rats), requiring slightly warmer than normal temperature ranges. Got him home, next week first feeding was small pinkies, he wolfed 3 down without once even attempting to constrict. I think hmm, well they were kinda small, I'll give him small fuzzies next feeding. Next feeding was today, he grabs the mouse, holds it by the head for about a minute or so, then starts swallowing, not once throwing a single coil. I do some diggin through my books and find out that Diadems are supposedly closer to Racers than Rats, and might be mildly venomous (his eating habits seem to justify back fanged-ness). I'm hoping someone can help me out with some info on the snake, I'm not worried about being bit (He hisses when picked up, but never strikes, and is pretty mild during holding) I'd just like to know a bit more about the snake I own :-)
: D~
