Many ratsnakes make very good pets, mostyly because they're so handleable, but also because of their ease of care.
My favorites are mostly Eurasian ratsnakes: the Russian, E. s. schrencki; the Dione's rats, E. dione (from S. Korea or China); and the Chinese twin-spotted rat, E. bimaculata. These are the ones I've worked with the most, and are extremely tame, hardy, and nice to look at.
I think more people should pay attention to the temperment and ease of care of their animals, as well as their beauty and price.
