: "KILL CHICKEN SNAKE--Brothers A.H. and S.H. are shown with a chicken snake they killed near Crosby last week. The boys were assisted by T.H. and used a baseball bat to dispatch of the reptile they spotted crossing a road."

: I called the editor who was immediately defensive, saying he had killed snakes a a boy, and he had been putting pictures of snakes in the paper for years and I was the first to complain. I said the boys were uneducated with the wildlife problems. I asked wouldn't that encourage more of this type of thinking. He immediately said I could write a letter to the editor, but if I used the words stupid and callous and coldhearted,he would not publish it. I never used those words. The nearest was uneducated when it comes to our wildlife.

: I called a local wildllife officer. He said he would be seeing "Andy" at the football game Friday and would talk to him. He thought it would be better if I talked to him myself.

: I am totally frustrated. Any ideas what to do next? Any suggestions on composing a letter to the editor? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Jeri
