: : : No spearpoint and too "clean." Where did you find it?
: :
: : A friend bought it in Germany a few days ago. He was told that it was a Rosa and that it would turn red within about 6 months. We are now trying to properly identify it.
: : I have been looking through snakes scientific names that include rosa and the only ones I can find are:
: : Rosa Rat
: : Baja Rat
: : Everglades Rat
: : Any suggestions as to what it is ??
: : Cheers
: As Walt suggested it looks most like an everglades rat(they don't get their stripes until the get around 2.5 ft), it could be a Deckert's rat snake,Elaphe obsoleta deckerti, which comes from the FL keys. JM
I looks like an obsoleta of some sort. My best guess would be texas rat snake.
