deformed hatchlings

Last year I bought an adult albino yellow ratsnake at a show. He is really a colorful snake.
This past spring I mated him to a normal yellow ratsnake. About half of the eggs hatched.
All of the young that hatched had "knots" and/or kinks in their spines. I have hatched out
a lot of ratsnakes over the last ten years. I can remember only seeing one or two
with this problem. I would like to know what other people's experiences are with this problem.
Does anyone know what is the cause of this problem?
