In Reply to: Egg incubation...who tried new techniques this year? *pic posted by Jim Demirjian on September 04, 2001 at 21:03:04:
I'm trying two things this year. First off I use room temp incubation on all snake eggs it seems more natural. On my first clutch from each female I used care fresh as a medium, it seemed to work ok. I mixed the water till wet then squeezed out the extra. Three clutches were set up this way. A clutch of one egg 100% hatch, a clutch of 19 with 100% hatch, and a clutch of 27 with one bad egg, and three dead in the egg, the others all hatched. An interesting note all three dead in the egg were at the bottem of the egg mass. I think they could of been too wet. I am still waiting on my second clutch eggs to hatch. I've set them up on dry vermiculite 3:1 by weight all seem to be doing good and should hatch in the next three weeks. The eggs have not swelled as much as i'm use to seeing, but they are all firm and look good so far.
