Thanks for your input.
To answer your question, no, as this is a wild caught snake that I intended to re-release into the wild, it did not get a vet visit or any medical treatment.
FYI -- this snake was found by a herper friend of mine crossing the road in his residential neighborhood and he brought it to me to release in my yard. I live on a 1 acre wooded lot that backs up to about 50 acres of woods that is generally a good release site but there had been a family of owls in the yard almost every night and I didn't want to turn this snake loose knowing that it would most likely get nailed by one of the owls so I've kept it for a few months.
I do plan on taking it to a vet for a fecal and/or stomach check as well as for the above-mentioned possible Crypto. concern.
As of this evening, this snake has not regurgitated the single hopper mouse I fed it Friday but the visible lump is still there in its mid-section.
