: HI Steve
: I think this mail is more or less for me. I can only speak for myself and the mandarin breeders I am working very closely with.
: The animals we are working with are all from the smaller Chinese mandarins located in the northern and eastern part of their distribution. The animals (as far as I know) that has this fast growth rate and maturity age comes from a more southern or low altitude distribution. They are larger, has a faster growth rate, matures faster and can have dubble clutching. On the other hand (my opinion) they don`t have the striking colors as some of the northern types.
: Yes we do have serious problems when feeding too much. The animals often dies after 1½ - 2 years looking perfect but with a fat liver that slowly kills them without anything to do. I have mentioned that as a warning to others. If you feed them heavely you might get that problem and loose your lovely snakes. But maybe not: Maybe your animals can stand it, so if you would take the change....... go ahead. I have lost about 15 juveniles (ment for my own group) and I know of at least 3 other breeders, that have experienced these fatal loses, so that is why I have given this warning.
: Best of luck
