Like many of us I have been searching for a viable treatment product for snake mites on my colubrid collection. I recently found mites on one of my hatchlings, and being that all of my hatchlings are in the same rack, decided to treat all of them.
The result is what you see pictured on this page. I still have a beautiful Peach-Orange Thayeri that is effected from the spray, but has been making progress. This spray is marketed as being safe. So safe that the distributor claims it will not hurt a snake to drink water contaminated with it.
Don't believe it. I lost this East Sanderson Alterna and pair of Pale Milks (Cherry County Nebraska locality)to the product.
This has been brought to the attention of the vendor/distributor who naturally will not assume any responsibilty for marketing a roach killer for use on expenssive and hard earned snake collections. They refused any and all compensation for the loss.
I post this on the forum as a hard lesson learned, and that being: NEVER use a product which was not specifically designed and tested for treatment of mites or at least used as a treatment option for animals. DO NOT believe the manufacturer/distributor claims of safety, unless they can back up those claims with clear scientific testing as evidence of it's safety.
I learned the hard way, and I want everyone to be aware of this.
