I went last year, late on Sunday, and realized after getting there I was too late. I vowed not to make the same mistake this year. I realized the high quality, reasonably priced and reasonably affordable animals probably sell very quickly, and the real deals are made between 3 and 5 PM on Sunday. I wanted a piece of the action on both ends, so we got there Friday night and went to the show when it opened.
I found a spectacular pair of western hognose, and after looking them over, I decided they were a bargain at the price asked, so I bought them.
I saw some spectacular juvenile okeetee corns, I hesitated, and when I came back an hour later, they were gone.
So we went back Sunday. Now, I was concerned about my newly acquired hoggies, but I had a plan. First, I brought along a large cooler. I got some ice at the hotel, and put a little in a container, and put that in the cooler. I put the hoggies in the cooler, away from the ice, and I parked in the parking garage across the street so the car would be in the shade. I also brought my radio shack thermometer and put the probe in the cooler. The temp never got above 83 deg. F, so everything was fine. Both hoggies ate pinks last night as a matter of fact.
