Hi
Yes it is strange! They often eat once even before their first shedding and then stop for months. Important is not to panic. Many more mandarin babies dies from too much feeding than lack of eating. I normally offer 1 newborn pincky every 10 days for the first 1½-2 years.I tried feeding them like other ratsnakes and lost several juveniles after a year or two due to fat liver. After reducing feeding I newer had this problem. Some other mandarin keepers has experienced the same and it is really sad to see these perfect looking mandarins die and nothing to do about it.
I tried using embryos operated out of Nathal-mice (They are to big as newborn) They smell different and the mandarins likes them much better than normal mice(too smelly)so maybe try to use other types of newborn rodents that doesn`t have the smell like normal laboratory mice.
If you continue to have problems send me a note
Best wishes
Søe
