I started with Black Rats even before I got my first cornies. I've found them to be a very easy-to-keep species, and good breeders.
The one thing I've noticed that may be considered a negative, is that the youngsters are rather "snappy", definitely not as laid-back as cornies.
This trait seems to mellow out with regular and gentle handling. These snakes are real beauties.
I'm hoping to eventually obtain a pair of E.o.rossalleni (Everglades Rats). I presently have a juvenile, normal phase. I'm hoping to obtain a hypo mate for it.
