Another thing to remember is that snakes have moods just like the rest of us - my 2yr old male Taiwan Beauty varies from easy to handle to striking as soon as I lift whatever he's hiding under (my female never strikes but on some occaisions will try & and flee. There are so many factors involved - it could be the temperature, a lot of movement by the viv, or they plain just got out of the wrong side of their hide that morning !
