I'd just like the opinions of those of you keeping and breeding a variety of elaphe...This might seem long but I just want to start on the right track...
I'm in the process of converting my cellar into a snakeroom. I'll keep some animals in vivs with bulbs in the tanks but I'm also planning a rack system for my smaller snakes. My questions are as follows:
1. What is the best sytems you have found for heating multiple snakes in a rack system - the celar gets pretty cold in winter and I wanted to know if it is easier to heat the whole space or the individualboxes/shelves.
2. Being a basement there is no natural light - do I need to provide light for the snakes. I assume that snakes kept in boxes in racks get a minimum of light in any room. Is this almost constant darkness a problem. (I can organise lighting if it is necessary for the snakes.) I'm keeping elaphe schrenki anomala which are nocturnal anyway, but also daylight species...
3. Any other hints info about setting up a dedicated space for snakes?
Cheers
Steve
