hey Adam,
thanks for clarifying a bit, glad there is no ill will : )
to address some of your points....
-as far as selling pairs of reverse trios of coxi, in this 2001 season Kam at Bushmaster has already sold new trios at the same price. when there are still folks paying $4500 for reverse trios, i am sure that will be a number of folks more than happy to pay the $3000 for a pair. we'll really see at Daytona, but i just don't expect the price to come down that much, if at all, these are still very rare and very enticing animals (seeing them in person is usually the hook that gets keepers addicted).
-i STILL believe that kingsnake.com is the best place to get in touch with ratsnake folks that could appreciate buying something like a single male coxi at a great price. certainly my local newspaper wouldn't move any : ) and we don't do more than 2 shows a year.
-as for our posts on this forum looking too advertiserial (?), it is more about time than anything else.
life is busy, and i have a lot of things to try and stay on top of (don't we all?). because of time constraints, the only forum that i post on with any regularity is the monitor forum (multiple times a day), and on that forum i try and answer any and all questions, primarily because the monitors are MUCH more familiar to me than the elaphe. fact is, we just don't do many rats, and haven't for any significant time. if someone comes here and asks about the rhinos or coxi, i try to give an educated answer. if they are asking about Mandarins, which we also do, i tend to let other folks answer, because Mandarins are even more foreign to me.
i have exchanged quite a bit of private emails with folks about the ratsnakes that we do work with, and i have enjoyed that exchange. but i don't know jack about the rest of the genus, and i am not qualified to answer most of the questions that keepers post about rats. but i read all the posts : ) and i am slowly getting hip to the rats. we are fortunate to work with some great ratsnakes, and they are really exciting, in fact, the rhinos are in my top three animals, period. i am a ratsnake enthusiast, but no expert.
-the other fine line that we walk is posting photos and breeding info. but it is like Jim said, everybody likes to share the success and sometimes failures, it keeps us all up to speed. i don't post pics of hatching corns in the corn forum, and i don't post pics of common boas in the boa forum.
but i do post successful breedings of rare snakes, like the coxi and Mandarins, cause i think that we all don't get enough shots of that stuff, and i love to see other posts of those same animals. it was a great day when Glenn and Nancy posted their Rhinos, and i was really happy for them. breeding those animals is good for the hobby, and i am glad they succeeded shared.
-when we post pictures, they all have our logo, for two reasons. number one, i got tired of seeing our pics show up in other people's posts, posing as their animals. i put a lot of time and money into pictures.
number two, i got sick of looking through my own collected album of other people's pics, from spectacular monitors to new morphs of boas or geckos, and not being able to remember whos animals they were. i wish all folks could label their pics, that way 5 years down the road, i can still remember that Joe Lizard bred his Lace monitors in 2001.
as for saying "see you in Daytona", hell, i am just trying to plant a seed in people's heads so that they remember to come see our table, check out the animals, and say hello. we are very friendly guys : ) and i already know the monitor folks : ) i would like to meet Terry, Walt, Jim and the others, especially from across the sea. that would be sweet.
anyway, thanks for the reply, and hopefully we'll see you in Daytona as well!
robyn
