Saw an animal labelled "yearling cornsnake" in a petshop today.
Clearly older than a year, being roughly 3 feet long, it was obviously a cross. I think between a corn and a bairdi. Consider: It was bright orange-yellow on its sides, with darker small orange-red saddles on top, and with a faint grey stripe running down each upper side(similar to Baird's markings). Its front 1/2 ventral was creamy with several darker blotches(like a corn's belly), and its 1/2 rear ventral was pumpkin orange.
The head was larger than a typical corns, and smaller than a typical rat's. All in all, a very unusual critter and very pretty. I guess the shop got it from someone who came in to unload it.
Which brings up several points to comsider, although it just made me even less respectful of the "Herpeton" shop where I saw it.
