Hi Tom
Oh oh oh two years...... I have bred mandarins for many many years, and in the beginning I lost a lot of cb juveniles after 1½ - 2 years, because they got fat liver and died......looking perfect. After I had an ortopsie on some of my juveniles, I decreased feeding to one pinckie every 10 days, and I didn`t have any problems after that.
My animals breeds after 4-5 years being 85-95 cm (Maximum growth rate 110 cm for my stock)and they continue breeding for many years (up to 11 years of breeding on the same female....every year)
I know that the southern forms of mandarins are faster developing but breeding the Chinese forms after 2 years is a risky business
Best wishes
Søe
