I'll try to answer your questions as well as I can.
: If I were to buy these WC sub-adults, anything I need to be aware of?
I got a wild caught and so far the only problems I've got is mites. He seems to be alright, but you never knows about parasites and all that.
: Are they as aggressive as everyone says? Not too fussed but it'd be nice if they would calm down eventually just to make husbandry a bit easier?
Mine was a little jumpy at first, but now he's as calm as any other rat snakes. I kinda miss him stretching out his neck and hissing. Now he just sit there looking at me.
: I've got a big viv for them but any specific heat/humidity requirements?
Well, they need a tall cage with horizontal branches. I usualy spray the cage twice every day and keep it around 80 degrees.
: I was planning to fee them rats - any probs there?
Nope :) Mine is a stuborn starter, but from what I've heard they are great eaters.
: Any general pointers on these great beasts would be appreciated...
By far my favorite rat snake. Active during the day, so they're not in the hide box all the time. Great display animals.
Here are some pictures of my tiger rat.
