In Reply to: Who's cooking E. situla eggs this year? posted by Ray Loraine on July 06, 2001 at 16:55:17:
Hi Ray
We do have situla eggs in the incubator together
with a lot of other eggs.
Problem is that it is very warm here, and it is difficult to keep the temperature down inside the incubators. The monitor and toitorse eggs doesn`t have a problem, but I fear that the Elaphe hatchlings especially situla and mandarina (we have a lot of mandarina eggs this year)will have an unequal sexrate.
If everything hatches, we will be drownings in juveniles and I wonder how I make enough pinckies to all of them. I ordered 1000 frozen pinckies to fill the hole and just got 25 kilo of frozen jumpers for the larger animals.
The mandarins are hatching in about 25-30 days and then it all starts.
It will be an interesting and busy fall.
Best wishes
Søe
