Oh I like a good discussion. One of the reasons why I started thinking this way was a pair of Gonyosoma oxycephala I bred once. Both eggs I opened (Unrelated) Later on their offspring all needed help to hatch even when they were together with other Gonyosoma eggs from other parents that hatched without problems. A lot can be done in perfect incubator conditions, BUT if the female lacks sufficient calcium or maybe vítamins, it is often shown in problems with hatching. My thought is that MAYBE this has an effect on future generations, and personally I always keep animals to enlarge my stock that has shown the most perfect vitality at the beginning.
Anyway this discussion only shows that there are many opinions and people should do what they find the best for them.
Best wishes
Søe
