Of the ten eggs to be incubated, all ten have hatched successfully, and are perfect babies with big yolk sacs. Twelve eggs were laid, and two were removed immediately because they looked very bad. A third egg (on top of the stack to the right) looked like it would be bad too, but it ended up pipping, on its own, at the last minute. I waited all day yesterday for it to come out and finally decided something was wrong. So I cut open the egg and found the neonate upside down. The best I can figure of what happened is that every time it stuck its nose out of the egg it hit the top of the container. So, then it tried to find another way out and got turned upside down.
Last baby was saved...amazing. Just shows you can get lucky if you have lots of patience. It was a little miracle that this guy made it into the world.
The babies are quite dark colored compared to the parents, but I believe they will lighten up quickly as they go through their sheds. Some are looking lighter already, as they start to use their yolk, and thin down a little. They do have large amounts of yolk, and I don't plan to feed them 'til after their first shed. I'll keep ya' posted and put up some pics when I get any. 'Til then :o) Happy Herping....
