I've got a 6 year old Great Plains Ratsnake coming in a few days. I'm a Rosy Boa owner and don't know a thing about ratsnakes. Since this guy is 4 and a half feet long I'm not sure how to take care of him. What kind of subtrate? His owner is moving and that's why I'm getting him. I want to provide a good healthy home. Is a 55 gallon aquarium large enough, or at least ok until I can get something else? Ratsnakes like hide boxes, right? Do they like to have something to climb? What about humidity? I would imagine that should be kept down...
Anyone that has an older ratsnake that would like to help me out with some info would be greatly appreciated. Wow. This is a far cry from the little expensive worm (my rosy) isn't it? Hmmm. I hope I do ok. Are ratsnakes pretty docile? Do they like to be handled?
Help!!!! ;)
Thanks!
Vikki
