It has to be determined what type of parasites the animal has, there really isnt a "cure all" treatment for parasites.
Some are resistant to certain meds, so a trip to the vet to indentify via a fecal float is pretty much the right thing to do.
It is also a good idea because it might be a bacterial infection as well.
In short,
a qualified vet will be your best course of action.
