Well, I am throwing this out becuase I would love to see what others have to say, and find out past experiences. I decided to wait until I am absolutely sure that my now 4 yr old rosaliae would be ready to breed Safely* and hold off another year, rather than have tried this year. This particular pair is unrelated, and they have obvious differences from one another. I try quite hard not to overfeed any of the animals in my collection, and I think these are at the top of the list (for me) in terms of having patience. I have kept them on a lean diet, small food items about every 10 days -2 weeks for their whole life now. To me they seem to just now be reaching maturity at 4 yrs old, and bodies look well proportioned.
Am I being overly cautious with these guys?
Does anyone have totally different experience with these animals, such as growth rate, breeding schedule, etc.
Or is it almost universal that these snakes require a bit more 'finesse' than others.
I know that this has not been the case (for me) with B.subocularis, which in my experience seem to be more 'forgiving' - for lack of a better word.
Thanks for any input!
Jim
