: Imports are extremely difficult to acclimate with mortality rates right up there alongside Moellendorph's and Mandarins! I'm generalizing here but I think a 95% death rate is not uncommon in wc imports - interestingly enough I have learned that death is usually the result of renal (kidney) failure due to prolonged dehydration/stress whereas before it was commonly assumed parasitic load imbalances were the culprit (not to minimize the detrimental effects of the latter in any way).
: Cb specimens are huge $$ and they need to be kept at very cool temperatures and brumated at even lower.
I presently house 2.1 1999CB E.p.coxi. These animals have been completely problem free and need no special heat requirements. Mine are kept at about 80F degrees during the day with a moderate nighttime drop to 72-74. They really do not require cool temps and in fact show no sign of stress at slightly higher temperatures. Prasina and Frenata by contrast, will automatically head for their respective water bowls if the temp rises to 81 or 82, seeming to prefer more moderate daytime highs of 76-80.---Walt Deptula
