: : : : : Dear Mr. Deptula,

: : : : : Could you perhaps tell me from wich (sub)species of old world ratsnakes Mr. Mulligan will have offspring this year? I'm still looking for E. mandarina offspring. I'm also interested in E. moellendorffi, E. prasina and E. porphyracea spp.

: : : : : Thank you very much!

: : : : : Regards,

: : : : : Bert Grit
: : : : : The Netherlands

: : : : Dear Mr. Grit,

: : : : You Netherlandians/ites/Dutch? are so so formal. That's Walt to you (grin).

: : : : You named all the species (less moellendorffi) that I keep !! Bill keeps all of the others! It would be much shorter to list what he doesn't yet keep, and it's pretty much limited to the exact species your inquiry centered on. Bill will have prasina soon though as his name is written on a pair of eggs presently in my incubator.

: : : : I would seriously advise that you contact Bill at the number above as he will be better suited to recite all of the wonderful species he expects in 2001.

: : : : Good Luck,
: : : : Walt Deptula

: : : Hello Walt,

: : : First of all thank you for the compliment!

: : : Second: thank you for the reply!

: : : I know that you're working with E. mandarina, E. prasina and E. porphyracea coxi (you have a very nice website!). Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't your animals offspring from Mr. Klaus-Dieter Schulz from Germany? Since Mr. Schulz lives in Germany, pretty much all the Asian ratsnake species you'll see here in the Netherlands are related to his breeders. I would like to get some fresh blood for a change. And I would also like to get my hands on animals with locality data. Especially when it comes to E. mandarina, because there's so much variation in the appearance of this snake.

: : : Thanks again for the information!

: : : Greetings from the Netherlands!

: : : Regards,

: : : Bert Grit

: : Hi Bert,

: : You are very welcome and thank you for the kind words on my website.

: : Yes, my prasina and coxi did originate from
: : Klaus-Dieter Schulz. My mandarins did not.
: : I understand completely your desire for new genetics, particularly if you already house animals from KDS lines. I should point out though, because several other individuals have raised similar inquiries, that because someone else has KDS prasina as do I, that they need not be related at all. KDS had several (5?) W/C prasina and it would be almost impossible to guess whether my animals are related to any other individual who purchased prasina through KDS/Bushmaster-KT.
: : I would guess that most are not. I should also point out that many of these prasina sold are likely F1's, further solidifying their genetic soundness, if you will. Some of these same points may old true for coxi but to a lesser extent.
: : I do not know the extent of W/C blood into the existing pool of KDS progeny. Fertility appears excellent though, from what I can tell.
: : All of this said, I still understand the desire to add new blood to the genetic pool. There is a chance that Bill Mulligan may have what you are looking for at some point in the future. I will gladly keep you posted on the progress of this eventuality.

: : Good Luck,
: : Walt Deptula

: Dear Walt,

: Thank you for all the information you provided! After reading your information I think that I will inquire at Mr. Schulz about this years offspring from E. mandarina, E. moellendorffi, E. prasina and E. porpyracea spp. However, I'm also considering importing snakes from China. I know what the general opinion on this topic is and in a way I totally agree, but I received an e-mail a little while ago from a Hong Kong based dealer who's trying to get gravid females and hatch the eggs.

: Again, thanks for all the information.

: Regards,

: Bert

Hi Bert,

I wish you the best of luck in each endeavor.
Please keep me posted on how you make out.
