: I guess I missed the post the last time. My eyes are going bad with this old age :) Congrats again on the eggs! Keep us informed with what hatches. By the way, what happened to your frenata? Are you going to expand further into asian rats? E-mail me if you do not want to post this info. to the forum. Best regards, ----glenn n nancy

Hi Glenn,

You're welcome. I'm really content with my mandarina, prasina, and coxi projects and don't plan on expanding. I've kept mandarins for years and bred prasina successfully the last two years.

There is no real mystery to the frenata. I had a group of 2.1 imports that I no longer keep. As with all new animals that enter my collection, these animals were subject to an 18 month quarantine in a separate out building. The female, which was thin on arrival, had a very unusual blistering condition, which despite vigorous, aggressive oral and topical antibiotic treatment, succumbed to this condition. I made every attempt to control humidity levels during this time, which only served to add to her pre- existing shed problems. I elected not to keep the males rather than purchase another female, which were tough to acquire at the time.
