First off, leave the snake alone for a few days, make sure it has hiding places and plenty of water,
then cover the cage or put it somewhere that it wont have to deal with people walking by every few minutes,
then after a few days to a week, try a small live pink.
Sounds like the animal is just freaked out.
Was it feeding when you got him/her?
