: thanks guys but does anyone know about keeping them, personality, cage setup, etc.
Hi erj,
Captive bred coxi have few special requirements. If ambient temps are employed they do well with daytime highs of 78-81 and a corresponding evening drop of from 3-10 degrees.
They are somewhat secretive snakes that will require an adequate hiding area. A damp sphagnum box will guarantee your animals will not suffer shed related problems. Coxi are fast, sleek-bodied snakes that feel almost glass-like to the touch.
My males will sometimes demonstrate their speed when surprised but calm quickly when held. My female is as calm as any snake that I keep. My coxi have bred for the first time this year and the female is now gravid. I witnessed two breedings, NEITHER WITH TACTILE ALIGNMENT!! The snakes were at opposite ends of the cage with only their tails entwined. The second such breeding lasted for nearly three hours. Whether his behavior is normal for coxi in general, I can't say, but it appeared normal in my group. I expect egg deposit in the next 15 days or so.
Imported coxi have special requirements, including cooler temps, and would not be recommended for any but the most experienced keepers.
