dg,
I saw the fine group of rat snakes on your site, and was most impressed.I was very interested in the white oak phase rat plus the normal rat.Do you know where these snakes were collected,or did you breed them?
I live in South Alabama less than 50 miles from the Florida line, and I have seen and caught a few of the whites, with most of the snakes being dark or medium platinum silver-gray as the base color on the dorsal surface. What I found most interesting is the slight difference(unless it was photographic angle)in the shape of the head.My adult gray has the long wedge-shaped head with long snout.I caught this snake here on the place.Local rats I have seen have this type head. The Alabama gray photo seemed to show a much shorter snout.I wish I could catch one with those colors.
I will possibly find another white oak since we do see them here.
Cordially,
JL
