Depending on how old he is, is how long before it becomes serious. If he is a yearling or more you have a bit of time before it becomes serious (could go three months or more without dieing probably), though this would be serious. Try lowering the temp and leave him alone by himself without disturbing him for a week. Then offer him a food item, preferably in a proportionately small encloser so he has to see the food. If he was eating before it is probable that this will work.
