This is probably a bairdii x obsoleta cross. The snake was collected by John Malone (herper extraordinaire!) while doing a herp survey of Lost Maples State Park, in Bandera Co. TX.
I am pretty sure it is the snake that Werler and Dixon record as a maximum size for bairdii (63.5 inches) in their book "Texas Snakes: Identification, Distribution, and Natural History". A book that IMHO, everyone with an interest in TX snakes or snakes in general should own!
