We are working with a group of carinata's and we think they are great snakes to work with. The sizes that you mentioned are correct as well as their diet, you did forget one aspect of their diet though, they will eat other snakes. Caging for them is pretty simple we keep ours in Rubbermaid containers, with a hide box and water bowl. They are kept on news paper for easy cleaning. More naturalistic vivaria can be used of course. Our animals were purchased from Jim Cavney @ Hiss n things. He would be a great source to get your animals from and he ships nation wide. We wish we had offspring to part with but at this time but, our group is still growing. To answer the last question you had, yes they can make great pets! With proper handling you will find that they are quite comfortable in their keepers hands. Well, we hope this helped a little for you. We have more info available and care sheets also. If interested in more information please email us.
