I'm setting up some vivs in my cellar. All of the set ups have heatmats and bulbs. The heat mats are enough to heat the tanks but obviously the cellar is dark. Do I need to run the bulbs as well to give the snakes a day/night cycle? Lots of guys keep their snakes in racks in plastic boxes and I assume these snakes don't get much direct light or have bulbs for heat etc. Would it be a good idea just to have an overhead light on in the room rather than in each tank? Just trying to decide what is best for the animals yet saves on power bills.
I'll be keeping Taiwanese Beauties and Amur rats (Elaphe schrenki anomala)as well as pituophis.
Cheers
Steve
