I have a pair of these great snakes! Yesterday the female gave me 12 eggs, my first clutch this year! This is really cool because last year she had surgery to remove 2 eggs that she retained.
I raised them from hatchlings. Initially, I kept them in medium rubbermaids, and moved them into larger enclosures as they grew. I find them to be shy eaters, and the male will not eat as much as the female. As babies, they took rat pups and hopper mice, but now, neither one of them will eat rats, so they get adult mice. Also, my male will only eat live! I keep them on cypress mulch in plywood cages 4'x2'x18". They have a hide of damp peat suspended from the ceiling and a dry hide with aspen on the floor of the cage. I give them large water bowls to soak in. I spray the cage lightly a couple times a week. Temps are low 80's daytime and drop to low 70's nighttime.
Hope that helps, if you have any other questions, email me and I'll see if I can help.
: I JUST BOUGHT A MALE AND A FEMALE AND THEY ARE FOUR MONTHS OLD. I AM LOOKING FOR CARESHEETS ABOUT THEM AND I CAN'T FIND ANY INFO ON THEM. ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT!!!
